POSITION DETAILS:  Full time position with hours from 7:00am-3:00pm Monday-Friday. No weekends. No holidays. Includes benefits such as PTO, retirement vesting, paid holiday time, health, dental, life and supplemental insurance packages after probationary period. 

PURPOSE. Performing routine maintenance around the building. General knowledge and skills in maintenance, monitory/repair equipment. Work in an environment with individuals with disabilities. The General Maintenance Technician is directly accountable to the Job Development Coordinator/ Director of Client Services/and Executive Director.

QUALIFICATIONS: A high school diploma, GED, or five years of related experience is required. Demonstrated understanding of developmental disabilities. Basic computer knowledge (Word and Excel) is desired. Must be able to drive, hold a current non-restricted driver’s license, have an acceptable driving record, be able to drive DAC vehicles and pass a DOT Physical. Good organizational skills are a must. Must have the ability to take proper action that will be in the best interest of the DAC.  Must be able to work cooperatively as part of a team. Must be able to successfully carry out the essential functions of the job with or without accommodations. Must be able to pass a DHS background study.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Lifting and/or transferring (at least 50lbs) with or without accommodations.
  2. Light lifting, infrequent bending, and/or stretching while setting up or moving equipment related to program activities with or without accommodations.
  3. Accessing areas that may not be handicapped accessible
  4. Drive the DAC vans or buses and cube truck. Provide documentation of non-restricted driver’s license, current vehicle insurance, and an acceptable driving record as defined in the DAC transportation policy.
  5. Pass a DOT physical.
  6. Hearing, visual, written, and spoken communication in English for the purpose of appropriate response to individuals, staff, and the public.
  7. Comprehending, interpreting, and evaluating information received in English through reading, listening, and viewing.
  8. Maintain regular attendance is a MUST
  9. Endurance of weather elements
  10. Maintain emotional stability throughout work assignments especially during stressful situations.
  11. Correct documentation for work counts and labeling work projects along with other tasks as assigned
  12. Make sure that work projects are completed as directed by the company’s specifications.
  13. CPR/First Aid certification is desired, but not required
  14. Employment with Winona County DAC is “at-will” it is subject to termination by either the company or the employee at any time.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Helping in daily operations of the DAC but not limited to performing routine, preventive, and breakdown of machinery and mechanical equipment.
  2. General building maintenance inside and outside
  3. Performing routine maintenance around the building such as fixing structural damage, windows, door or wall repair
  4. Repair broken or leaking plumbing
  5. Change light bulbs, paint, assembling materials
  6. Groundskeeping, lawn care, snow blowing, shoveling
  7. Pick up supplies and materials when needed
  8. Pick up and drop off deliveries to and from our existing customers/businesses in a timely manner
  9. Take aluminum recycling cans to desired business
  10. Maintain the forklift on a monthly basis (check the water level in the batteries, check hoses for cracks, check for fluid leakage, (etc)
  11. Provide physical, social, and emotional support while meeting the individual’s needs
  12. Recommend changes in agency policies and or procedures to JD Coordinator/ Director of Client Services and /or Executive Director
  13. Recommend changes in agency policies and or procedures to the Director of Client Services, HR Director/ Executive Director
  14. Present self as a positive role model to individuals, other staff, and peer agencies
  15. Follow agency policies and procedures
  16. Work with all staff to ensure the effective operation of the program
  17. Work TOGETHER as a TEAM
  18. Other tasks as assigned by the Job Development Coordinator/Director of Client Services/or Executive Director
